Hi, we’re Neil and Deserae! We are not just business owners we are a family with a love for pottery and a passion for building something special here in Kalamazoo.

Our journey into ceramics started a few years ago when Neil fell in love with the pottery wheel. What began as a creative outlet quickly turned into something bigger a deep appreciation for the craft and a realization that Kalamazoo needed a stronger ceramic community.

As we connected with other potters, we saw a real need for local access to quality ceramic supplies. Like so many others, we were constantly

ordering clay, glazes, and tools from out of town, waiting for shipments, and wishing for a space where people could gather, learn, and create together. That’s when the idea for Forest Hills Ceramics was born!

With two little ones our 4-year-old and our 9-month-old, we knew this business wouldn’t just be about pottery; it would be about family, creativity, and community. We wanted to create a place where people of all experience levels could feel welcome, inspired, and supported. Whether you’re taking your first class, shopping for supplies, or looking for a place to fire your work, we’re here to help!

Running a business while raising two

kids has its challenges, but it’s also an incredible adventure. We are so grateful to be building this space in our

hometown and to be a part of

Kalamazoos growing ceramic community.

Thank you for supporting our family and our dreams we can’t wait to create with

you!

At Forest Hills Ceramics, we offer everything you need to bring your pottery projects to life. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced ceramic artist, our shop and studio provide high-quality supplies, engaging classes, and a welcoming creative space.
